Davidspalding wrote:I had bad luck with the new driver - BT radio would turn off immediately after trying to turn it on - and rolled back to the version I mentioned before. YMMV.Sometimes newer ain't better.i found out that updating through ThinkVantage was the problem. I updated everything but the BT software through ThinkVantage. I downloaded the BT software (77ba10ww.exe).1)Uninstalled old Bluetooth IV software from 'Add/Remove Programs'2)Rebooted3)Double clicked 77ba10ww.exe and it extracted the BT files in C:DRIVERS4)Turned on Bluetooth (Fn+F5) and selected 'Cancel' when Windows wanted to install drivers through its own 'Found New Hardware' wizard.5)Navigate to C:DRIVERSTPBTooth and double click Setup.exe and let it do the rest.6)Rebooted.Didnt have any problems after that. However now both the Microsoft Enumerator and the Widcomm Stack are showing up in Bluetooth Drivers.
I havent deleted the Mircrosoft drivers yet. Although it could be worth a try to pair the Treo after deleting it. However i doubt it will work.My bluetooth mouse paired just fine after i did the manual update of the BT software. I had the same experience with my T42p and a new Samsung a900. I could pair the devices with Bluetooth no problem but then the only service that was available was DUN.

I was up to the latest drivers according to the Lenovo site (using XP SP2) and no mention of any of these problems. I did a lot of googling before I stumbled on this thread. I downloaded both the BT II and BT III from the Lenovo site, uninstalled the MS Bluetooth enumerator and attempted the 'update driver' method with both of the drivers. The BT II driver didn't work at all (couldn't even see my BT mouse) and the BT III driver had the same DUN only problem.

Finally I installed the BT II package (using setup.exe) and that works. The WIDCOMM BT utilities are rather different but bottom line it works, I was able to send.vcf files to the phone (of course I could have entered the contacts by hand way faster than sorting this mess out!)Bottom line, I was amazed that: 1) such basic functionality doesn't work with the 'recommended' setup 2) the solution is not more readily available (for example I'm surpised I didn't find anything explaining all this easily on the Lenovo site). Thanks for this thread; I hope this info helps others that have the same problem.John. I have a ThinkPad T41p running Windows XP SP1. I wanted to have it work with Plantronics Headset Voyager 510.I downloaded the IBM Integrated Bluetooth II install (bthwxp1o.exe) from IBM support for my machine and after the obvious installs from BTW.msi and setup.exe failed, I looked on the web for more ideas.
I tried the various approaches which recommended uninstalling the MS Bluetooth stack by renaming the BTW.INF and BTW.PNF files, but I could not get those hacks to work on my machine, though I tried all sorts of variations.I went back to the IBM support pages for installation instructions and finally succeeded by following steps 1-23 exactly (though it took two tries). That's what worked for me.I had no idea that it would be so difficult in these Plug-N-Play days, especially with an IBM machine, to get Bluetooth working.JackII. Installation instructionsNotes:.
